About Rick Mai
Rick Mai spent most of his childhood growing up in the oil fields of Russell, Kansas. He loved being a boy scout, playing football, fishing, hunting and spending time with his 3 other siblings.
The Mai Family eventually relocated to Texas to pursue the dreams of building and operating a golf course. Thorntree Country Club opened its doors prior to the mid-eighties and since then Rick has ventured onto other golf courses such as Kings Creek Golf Club, Grand Oaks Golf Club and Runaway Bay.
Before Rick’s sudden passing, he had many entrepreneurship developments in the works, was an avid pilot, he specialized in agricultural development (aka pushing dirt) and absolutely loved living at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. Rick was a husband of over 38 years to his wife Jolene. A proud father to his daughters Jamie, Courtney and his son Jacob. A fun and loving G-Dogg to his grandchildren Carson, Hannah, Presley and Emmalyn.
He will be remembered at Grand Oaks for all of his efforts to make the golf course a better place for us all.
